Anglo-french, Alexia Carr started studying Singing and Drama after learning the violin in the Conservatoire of Nimes. In the CNR of Toulouse, the velvet colour of her voice is noticed by José van Dam who encourages the young singer.

 

She studdied in several Conservatoires in France, and abroad (England, Bulgaria,

Monaco, Germany) with famous international opera singers:

Teresa ZYLIS-GARA, Alexandrina MITCHEVA, Sue MacCULLOCK, Kammersänger Reiner GOLDBERG ...

 

Winner of national Competitions, she obtained the Prix d´Honneur (Excellence) at the Léopold BELLAN Competition (Paris 2002), le grand Prix Opérette "Drome Opéra" (2006) etc ...

 

Performing regulary with choir and orchestra, Alexia Carr has sang the parts of La Belle Hélène (OFFENBACH), La Comtesse ("Valses de Vienne" - J. STRAUSS) in Orange,

La Duchesse d`Albe ("Le Prince de Madrid" - LOPEZ) in Lyon,

Mademoiselle Lange ("La fille de Madame Angot" - LECOCQ), à Lamalou les Bains,

Bastien ("Bastien und Bastienne" - MOZART) ...

 

In 2005, she was Carmen (BIZET), singing the Habanera riding on a horse, staged by Hubert Humeau, Madame Phidias ("Phiphi" - CHRISTINE), Gustave ("Pomme d´Api" - OFFENBACH), Suzanne (Un mari à la porte" - OFFENBACH) à Aix en Provence, and la 3éme fille ("LÒpéra dÀran") in Lamalou. In 2006, she sang Carmen again under the direction of Richard BESWICK (OCP - Lot et Garonne) and Baba the Turc ("The Rake´s progress" - STRAWINSKY) in Berlin.

She often gives recitals with the pianist

Catherine SILIE (French Institut) etc ...

 

Her repertoire includes Oratorios (Alto): "Stabat Mater" (PERGOLESE),

"Weihnachtsoratorium" (BACH), Gloria (VIVALDI), "Messe" (CHAMINADE).

She has also sang with the "Shynio-en Ensemble" in Honolulu, Hawaii.

 

In her recitals such as "From Laughter to Tears", "La femme dans tous ses états" with the pianists Benoit Tourette and Catherine Silie, or "Fantasievoll - von Oper bis Music Hall" with Klaus Schäfer, Alexia Carr performes also some of her own compositions and poems in french.
